Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders to begin exciting new chapter with 2027 rebrand The next chapter of pro baseball is on the horizon in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, are excited to announce they will unveil a new identity ahead of the 2027 season, marking a new era in the franchise’s nearly four-decade history in the region. While the club’s name and look will evolve, its commitment to delivering memorable experiences at PNC Fieldand serving as the final stop on the path to the Bronx will remain unchanged. The new identity will celebratethe region’s beauty, heritage, and outdoor legacy while strengthening the connection between the club, itscommunity, and one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports. “This rebrand is about building an identity that our community can rally around for generations to come,” saidShawn Reilly, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s Team President & General Manager. “As we looked toward the future baseball in NEPA, we saw an opportunity to create something that is deeply rooted in this region while honoringthe incredible tradition of baseball that has defined this franchise for decades. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre opens the 2027 season on the road on March 26 with the home opener scheduled for April 6. The 150-game slate once again features 75 home games at PNC Field and 75 road contests. The top affiliates of the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Miami Marlins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and Toronto Blue Jays will come to NEPA next season. Game times for the 2027 season will be announced at a later date. The RailRiders have three six-game homestands remaining this season as they push for a second-straight.
SWB RailRiders, Beck Earns International League Pitcher of the Week by MiLB Minor League Baseball has announced its weekly awards for July 20-26 and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s Brendan Beck was named the International League’s Pitcher of the Week. The RailRider did not allow a run while striking out seven to help record a shutout victory against the Syracuse Mets. Beck got the call for Thursday’s contest to face off against the New York Mets rehabber Clay Holmes. The righty earned his team-high eighth win of the season with 6.1 innings of scoreless baseball. He allowed just three hits and one walk, while striking out seven. Beck threw 82 pitches in his first appearance after the All-Star break. Beck has thrown eight quality starts for the RailRiders this season and has helped the team to a 13-5 record when he gets the ball. He is coming off an impressive June where he was honored with the IL Pitcher of the month award. During that time, he worked a 1.24 ERA in 5 starts through 29 frames. This included his seven no-hit innings to begin a combined no-hitter on June 5. The Yankees #23 prospect leads the International League with a 2.89 ERA among qualified pitchers. He is first in innings pitched (99.2), second in wins (8), and fourth in strikeouts (100). Beck also made his Major League debut with New York on May 7 and has pitched in the bigs one other time this season. The 27-year-old was selected by the Yankees in the 2nd round of the 2021 draft out of Stanford University.It is the third time this summer Beck has been tabbed IL Pitcher of the Week, along with appearances in midMay and early June both against Syracuse. Only two other players in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre history have won the International League’s weekly award three times. Andy Ashby received the honor three times as a righty starter in 1991 as did Josh Hancock back in 2003. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre takes on the Iowa Cubs for a six-game set in Des Moines. SWB RailRiders, Hardman Earns International League Player of the Week by MiLB Minor League Baseball has announced its weekly awards for July 6-12 and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s Tyler Hardman was named the International League’s Player of the Week. The RailRider smashed a dozen hits, including four homers, and drove in nine to lead the team. Hardman had an exceptional week hitting .500 at Sahlen Field against Buffalo, the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. The 27-year-old played and had a hit in every contest, including both games of a doubleheader. Hardman started off with a four-hit, two-homer night in the series opener. He smashed a ball over the wall in three consecutive games. On Wednesday, he homered against future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer in the first frame. The righty also had a three-hit night in the Friday night contest. With Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Hardman has hit .276 in 44 games in Triple-A. He’s had nine doubles and nine homers along with 26 RBI. He began the season in Somerset, playing 42 contests in Double-A. There he smacked 13 home runs and 40 RBI. Hardman leads the entire Yankees farm system with 86 games played and with 66 runs batted in. He has notched the second most long balls with 22.
