Penn East FCU Names Marie Beggin as New CEO

Penn East Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Marie Beggin as its new CEO, effective August 1, 2023. Following an extensive search, Marie emerged as the exceptional candidate to lead the credit union into its next chapter of growth and success.

With an impressive track record of 30 years in the financial industry, including seven years of invaluable experience at Penn East FCU as Vice-President of Commercial and Consumer Lending, Marie brings a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of the credit union’s vision.

“I’ve worked with Marie for six years now, and I’m happy to know that I’m leaving the credit union in the hands of someone as capable and competent as Marie,” said current CEO Jeff DeBree, who will be retiring at the end of July after 19 years. 

Throughout her tenure, Marie has demonstrated exceptional leadership, guiding Penn East FCU commercial lending services through the challenges posed by the pandemic while spearheading numerous strategic branch initiatives. Her unwavering commitment to the credit union movement and the philosophy of people helping people has been a driving force behind the institution’s remarkable achievements.

Penn East FCU Shredding Day: October 21

Penn East FCU will host a FREE on-site Shredding Day from 10am –2pm in the Scranton Office parking lot at 441 N. 7th Avenue. This is a great time of the year to get rid of tax documents, credit card and bank statements, and other items which could be used to commit identity theft.

Acceptable documents for shredding are limited to confidential and sensitive materials. Non-confidential materials such as books, magazines, newspapers, and other items should be recycled through your local municipal recycling program.
