Wright Center’s North Pocono Practice Hosts Open House An open house program and ribbon-cutting ceremony at The Wright Center for Community Health North Pocono Practice on Sunday, April 24 from noon-2 p.m. will introduce regional residents to the family medicine services available at the new community health center in Covington Township. The North Pocono Practice, 260 Daleville Highway, Suite 103, in the North Pocono 502 Professional Plaza, officially opens its doors to patients in Moscow Borough, Elmhurst, Jefferson, Roaring Brook, Thornhurst, Spring Brook, Clifton, Covington and Madison townships, and nearby communities on Monday, April 25. It will be open four days a week, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will provide health care services to children and adults of all ages, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. Services include sick visits for the entire family, routine examinations and screenings, behavioral health and substance use disorder services, and the treatment of any illnesses or injuries that do not require a trip to the emergency room. The North Pocono Practice is the ninth community health center in The Wright Center for Community Health’s network that serves Northeast Pennsylvania. Together, they provide a safety net of comprehensive primary and preventive care to medically underserved populations in rural and urban areas. Patients who are uninsured or underinsured may be eligible for the sliding-fee discount program that allows The Wright Center to reduce fees for eligible patients depending on household size and family income. During the open house program, representatives from the region will join The Wright Center’s executive leadership team in the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially welcome the primary health care practice to the community. The Wright Center for Community Health’s Driving Better Health mobile medical unit will offer COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters during the open house program. In addition, The Wright Center for Patient & Community Engagement will distribute free masks, at-home COVID-19 test kits and care bags. Children can also address their creative side by participating in arts and crafts activities with Allison LaRussa, director of health humanities at The Wright Center. WKRZ-FM 98.5 will provide music and offer special giveaways, while tours of the primary care practice will be available to guests. Marywood University to Hold Undergraduate Open Houses Marywood University will hold undergraduate open houses for high school students and their parents on Saturday, October 30, 2021, and Saturday, November 13, 2021. Broadway In Scranton Open House at Masonic Temple This week, for three days only, Broadway In Scranton moves its office location to the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple (420 N. Washington Ave.). From Tuesday, September 28 thru Thursday, September 30, Broadway In Scranton will be hosting an Open House at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple. During these three days, guests can visit the Cultural Center and purchase new season tickets in-person. From 8A – 4P the theatre will be open and Broadway In Scranton staff will be on-site to walk patrons through the historic theatre and show them available seating options. Patrons will be able to “test-drive” the seat locations prior to choosing and purchasing their seat(s) for the upcoming 2021-2022 Broadway In Scranton season. “An open house provides patrons a wonderful opportunity to try out all of the available seats to get the true in-person view of the stage from the seat location” said Tom Combs from NAC Entertainment. Combs went on to note that Broadway In Scranton has hosted open houses in prior seasons, but this time it feels much bigger and different than past years. “Having been shut down since March of 2020, the excitement and anticipation of Broadway’s return to the Cultural Center this fall is at an all time high. The demand for season tickets is extremely robust and we expect the strong season ticket sales to continue.” The 2021-2022 season includes Waitress, Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, South Pacific, and Cats. The Greater Scranton YMCA to Host Free Back to Normal Bash and Open House On Thursday, June 3rd, the Greater Scranton YMCA will host a free event open to all members of our community. The Back to Normal Bash will take place from 4:00–7:00 p.m. and will feature free food, beverages, DJ, bounce house, magician and more. The event will take place outside in the back of the Greater Scranton YMCA’s facility in Dunmore. While registration is not required, the first 200 people who RSVP via the Y’s website will receive a FREE T-shirt (adult sizes only)! In addition to the event from 4:00-7:00 p.m., the Greater Scranton YMCA is opening its doors all day for community members to tour the facility and workout for free. For anyone who joins the Y on June 3rd, the joiner’s fee will be waived. “We are so excited to be coming out of this trying year and could not think of a better way to celebrate than to have a traditional family-style barbeque with music and magic,” said Trish Fisher, President & CEO, Greater Scranton YMCA. “We are proud to open our doors for the day, allowing all members of our community to see what our facility has to offer.” The Y’s Covid-19 safety plan will be in effect during this event.
