Metropolitan Tier 1 and 2 include Northeastern Pennsylvania and Allentown Lehigh Valley.

Firms included in the 2019 “Best Law Firms” list are recognized for professional excellence with persistently impressive ratings from clients and peers.  Achieving a tiered ranking signals a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal expertise. “For more than 30 years, U.S. News has ranked a wide range of institutions,” says Tim Smart, executive editor of U.S. News & World Report. “Law firms are an integral part of our rankings and complement our law school rankings.” To be eligible for a ranking, a firm must have a lawyer listed in The Best Lawyers in America, which recognizes the top 4 percent of practicing attorneys in the United States. Over 21,000 attorneys provided almost 700,000 law firm assessments, and over 8,000 clients provided more than 47,000 evaluations. “We are proud that we have undertaken this challenging and important task so diligently and with such care that the legal profession has come to view our tens of thousands of rankings each year with widespread respect,” says Steven Naifeh, CEO and co-founder of Best Lawyers.

“As one of the founders of Hourigan, Kluger & Quinn, I am honored to be part of this notable distinction and so very proud of our attorneys at the firm. Hard work, dedication, compassion, decades of experience, education and research, teamwork, preparation and exemplary skills in the courtroom contribute to the results we obtain for our clients,” says HKQ Law Attorney Joseph A. Quinn, Jr.

Receiving a tier designation reflects the high level of respect a firm has earned among other leading lawyers and clients in the same communities and the same practice areas for its abilities, its professionalism and its integrity. The 2019 “Best Law Firms” rankings can be seen in their entirety by visiting bestlawfirms.usnews.com.

Free Flood Map and Insurance Workshop

Help your clients protect their investment.

Flash floods swept through Pennsylvania this summer – damaging homes and businesses throughout many communities. Increasingly, flooding is a fact of life.  However, you can help your clients better prepare for and respond to a flood event. Resources are available through government agencies and private sector providers, to help people understand their flood risk and to protect their homes and businesses.

This is an invitation to a flood insurance and flood map training for industry stakeholders, hosted by FEMA Region III and state and local partners, on Monday, December 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Fiorelli Catering, 1501 Main Street, Peckville, PA 18452.

This training, Impacts of Flood Map Changes on Insurance, will be led by Bruce A. Bender, CFM, a flood insurance and outreach specialist.  Bruce has provided numerous similar stakeholder trainings across the United States and brings nearly 30 years of professional experience to this event.

The primary purpose of this event will be to provide attendees with an in-depth understanding of the process by which FEMA updates communities’ flood maps (known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps or FIRMs) and the effects that these updates have on flood insurance requirements and costs. We will also preview anticipated changes to the flood maps in Lackawanna County. Bruce will cover updates to the federal flood insurance program and resources available that insurance agents, realtors, lenders, land surveyors and floodplain administrators can use in their daily work.

This event has also been approved for two hours of Continuing Education Credits for Certified Floodplain Managers (CFMs) and insurance agents and has been submitted for CEC approval for realtors. If you are interested in attending, please register on Eventbrite (https://impacts-of-flood-map-changes.eventbrite.com) no later than Wednesday, December 5th.

In the meantime, please direct any questions you might have to Terence Milstead at terence.milstead@ogilvy.com or at (850) 339 9714. We look forward to seeing you in Peckville on the 10th of December!
