The ATHENA Award, sponsored locally by Michael A. Barbetti LLC Certified Public Accountants, honors an exceptional individual who has achieved excellence in their business or profession, has served the community in a meaningful way, and has assisted women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills. Dr. Thomas-Hemak embodies these characteristics wholeheartedly. Dr. Thomas-Hemak joined The Wright Center in 2001, became president in 2007, and CEO in 2012. Concurrent with her responsibilities as an executive, Dr. Thomas-Hemak is also quintuple board-certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, addiction medicine, obesity medicine, and nutrition, and she remains a healer at heart. Misericordia University Pauly Friedman Art Gallery Opens New Exhibit Misericordia University’s Pauly Friedman Art Gallery exhibits “Personal to Political: Celebrating the African American Artists of Paulson Fontaine Press” through March 29, 2025. This exhibition features works by seventeen African American artists who have helped to shape the contemporary art conversation in the Bay Area and beyond. Works draw from history, traditional crafts, geography, and personal memory to show a variety and breadth of printmaking techniques. At the heart of this show is a Berkeley-based fine art print studio, Paulson Fontaine Press, who over the past two decades has developed an unparalleled roster of internationally celebrated artists, including Kerry James Marshall and the Gee’s Bend Quilters. The public is invited to explore these artworks through educational events. Three Pointer Art Talk: On Wednesday, February 19, 12:20 pm – 1:20 pm, three Misericordia professors will relate three works from the show to hot topics in their disciplines. Johnson College Hosts Appliance Recycling Event Appliance Recycling Event – April 4th from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm and April 5th from 10:00am – 3:00 pm. This is a free event that is open to the public. There is no limit on the number of items that can be brought to campus. However, only items with refrigerant will be accepted. Johnson College Offers OSHA 10 Course OSHA 10 for General Industry training begins on March 11. The schedule is as follows – Tuesday 3/11 5:30pm – 8:45pm, Thursday 3/13 5:30pm – 8:45pm, Saturday 3/15 10:00am – 2:30pm.
