Space Time Mead & Cider Works Releases Special Meads for Upcoming Festival

Samples will be available, and bottles can be purchased at the Carbondalien Festival Vendor Fair at 20 N Main St, Carbondale, Saturday, November 9th from 11am-5pm.

Space Time® Mead & Cider Works will release three limited-edition honey wines commemorating the 50th anniversary of the UFO sighting in Carbondale.  The limited releases are “CarbondAlien”, “Take Me to Your Meader”, and “Galactic Gold” sweet honey wines

“For our new CarbondAlien Mead, a sweet wine made with orange blossom honey, we commissioned label art from a wonderful local artist, Katie Campbell”, says Dan Schreffler President and winemaker.

“Take Me to Your Meader, and Galactic Gold are special because the label art and the wines were made by local amateur mead makers.  They turned out fantastic!’ stated Dan.

Space Time® Mead & Cider Works Takes Platinum at the Cidercraft Awards

Space Time® Mead & Cidery Work’s “Leap Year” Cider was awarded Platinum by CiderCraft Magazine in the Natural Cider Category. Space Time® Mead & Cider Works has received several national and international awards for their meads (honey wines) but this is the first major award for their ciders. “I am just overjoyed for the recognition of this wonderful cider made using apples sourced from our local orchard, Miller’s Orchards Farm Market, and made in our ‘shoe box size’ of an urban winery in Dunmore”, said cider maker Dan Schreffler.

In 2022 Dan traveled to France to learn from world-class cider makers in Normandy and Brittany. “We took their cider-making skills and philosophy home,” said Dan. “We were very hopeful that we could create worldclass cider from locally sourced fruit given the care and passion of our local growers and the cider-making skills we cultivated.”

Leap Year is available for pick up or shipping from the winery at 419 S. Blakely St. in Dunmore (spacetimemeadworks.com) and a future special release at Sabatini’s Bottle Shop and Bar in Exeter.

Space Time Mead and Cider Works Collaboration Wins Best of Class

Honey Hole Winery’s/Space Time Mead & Cidery Work’s “Collaboration Pyment” made with Pennsylvania Chambourcin grapes and local honey received a Double Gold medal and “Best of Class” at the American Wine Society’s (AWS) 2022 Commercial Wine Competition held in Bellevue, Washington. In 2021, their Collaboration Lavender Mead won American Wine Society’s (AWS) Commercial Wine Competition Best of Class Mead

“What is so great about this recognition is that the mead was made from all Pennsylvania sourced ingredients including honey from local apiaries The Bee Keeper’s Daughter, and Murphy’s Bee Farm.” said Pete Aiello of Honey Hole Winery. “Northeastern Pennsylvania has some quality beekeepers!”

“Happy to be winning this with our friends at Honey Hole Winery”, weighed in Dan Schreffler of Space Time Mead & Cider Works. “Not only winning Best of Class two years in a row, and receiving a high score of 96, and Double Gold is special.”

Out of 7 collaboration wines, the Chambourcin Grape Pyment is their third double gold medal award winning mead. This is the 3rd American Wine Society’s Commercial Best of Class Mead won by Space Time Mead & Cider Works. Their next collaboration is under development and will be released in Spring of 2023.
