Knehr has been an integral part of the Quandel team for more than 10 years, beginning as a project manager and working her way up to senior project manager before earning her latest promotion.

Throughout her tenure at Quandel, Knehr has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills, technical industry knowledge, and a commitment to delivering quality projects that meet client expectations. Her expertise in managing complex projects, developing project plans and budgets, and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels has been invaluable to the company’s success. In addition to her extensive experience in construction management, Sarah has significant expertise in the construction process from start to finish, which includes her ability to lead the teams from renovations to new hospitals ground up.

As project executive and healthcare team leader, Knehr will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of healthcare projects, leading project teams, and completing quality projects on time, within budget. She will also work closely with clients to understand their needs and achieve their goals while maintaining Quandel’s commitment to excellence.

Knehr holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and is a certified healthcare constructor. She is also an active member of several industry associations, including the American Building Contractors, Keystone Contractors Association, and the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program of Central PA. Quandel Employee Named KCA’s Top Young Leader

Sarah Knehr, CHC, senior project manager with Harrisburg-based construction firm, Quandel Construction Group, was named Keystone Contractors Association’s Top Young Leader.

Knehr has served in the construction industry since 2010 and has been a valuable member of the Quandel team. She started as an assistant project manager with Quandel and worked diligently to advance her skillset through hard work and a commitment to succeed. In her current role as seniorproject manager, Knehr is responsible for the overall success of the project and is the point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. As a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), Knehr’s primary market sector focus is healthcare, where she has excelled with clients such as Geisinger Health System and UPMC.

“I am very excited to be recognized as one of the area’s top young leaders and to show case what women in construction can accomplish. It is my hope that more young people can be encouraged to pursue careers in construction and take on leadership roles,” stated Sarah.

One of the largest projects Sarah was a part of was the new $115 million UPMC Pinnacle – Memorial Hospital, in York, Pennsylvania, completed in 2019. She also managed the UPMC Children’s Hospital renovation at Harrisburg Campus, which received the Excellence in Construction award from Associated Builders and Contractor’s Keystone Chapter.

Along with her project responsibility and client relationships, Knehr gives back to the construction industry and local community. She goes far beyond the performance of her project duties by remaining active in industry and community service efforts. Knehr participated in the ACE Mentor Program of America as a mentor and is now team leader because of the invaluable help and assistance she received from her own mentors while in high school. In addition to leading a team of students, she also helps organize the Dauphin County program of the ACE Mentor Program in Central PA. Continuing to excel as a woman in construction, Knehr was also one of the women spotlighted by the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania for National STEM Day where she was able to share first-hand her thoughts about her STEM Career.

Kauffman Named Vice President of Quandel Construction Group, Inc.

Karl Kauffman, LEED AP, was recently named vice president of preconstruction and estimating for Quandel Construction Group, Inc., a Quandel Enterprises Company, a Central Pennsylvania construction management and general contracting firm. Karl’s transitions into the role following the recent appointment of Michael Karcutskie (former vice president of preconstruction and estimating for Quandel Construction Group) to president of Quandel Construction Group.

Based in the firm’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Kauffman is responsible for the implementation and management of the estimating and preconstruction efforts within the Quandel Construction Group team. Previously serving as a senior project manager, Karl used his communication skills to run efficient and timely projects, keep owners informed, and maintain positive relationship with team members. His technical skills have allowed him to assist in resolving issues and work with various superintendent on planning and implementing the firm’s project schedules.

Karl began his career with Quandel Construction Group in 2003 and over the past 18 years has demonstrated a deep understanding of the construction industry.
