Misericordia University Hosts Virtual Open House for OT Program Misericordia University will host a Virtual Open House on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 6:00–6:45 p.m. to provide prospective students with an overview of its Nontraditional (Weekend) Entry-Level Master’s Program in Occupational Therapy. The online event will include a brief presentation on the program’s curriculum, followed by a Q&A session to offer insights into how the hybrid-format program is tailored for adult learners. Misericordia University Pauly Friedman Art Gallery Opens New Exhibit Misericordia University’s Pauly Friedman Art Gallery exhibits “Personal to Political: Celebrating the African American Artists of Paulson Fontaine Press” through March 29, 2025. This exhibition features works by seventeen African American artists who have helped to shape the contemporary art conversation in the Bay Area and beyond. Works draw from history, traditional crafts, geography, and personal memory to show a variety and breadth of printmaking techniques. At the heart of this show is a Berkeley-based fine art print studio, Paulson Fontaine Press, who over the past two decades has developed an unparalleled roster of internationally celebrated artists, including Kerry James Marshall and the Gee’s Bend Quilters. The public is invited to explore these artworks through educational events. Three Pointer Art Talk: On Wednesday, February 19, 12:20 pm – 1:20 pm, three Misericordia professors will relate three works from the show to hot topics in their disciplines. Little, PhD, Gallery Director, will speak on the six prints in the exhibition based on quilt patterns by artisans from Gee’s Bend in Alabama. Misericordia University Launches Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic The Misericordia University College of Business has launched a Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic to serve residents of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The clinic offers free representation to low-income taxpayers involved in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Jim Pierson, J.D., CPA, dean of the College of Business, serves as the clinic director, while Richard Brogan, MBA, MS (Tax), EA, acts as the clinic’s tax specialist. Business students will assist with cases under the supervision of qualified representatives, allowing them to gain practical experience while serving the community. The clinic’s mission is to ensure fairness and integrity in the tax system for low-income individuals and those who speak English as a second language. It aims to: Provide pro bono representation in tax disputes. Educate taxpayers about their rights and responsibilities. Advocate for issues impacting low-income taxpayers. “If you have received a tax notice or have unresolved issues such as audits, refund claims, collection actions, identity theft, worker misclassification, state tax concerns, or other matters, please contact us for a confidential consultation,” Pierson said.
