Ale Mary’s Announces Re-Opening of Night Club, Madame Jenny’s

Curtain up! Light the lights! After going dark several years ago, it’s show time again at Madame Jenny’s inside Ale Mary’s at The Bittenbender. The iconic Art Deco style speak- easy nightclub will reopen on October 31 with a full lineup of entertainment, live music and family events. The schedule was announced during a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the reintroduction of the downtown establishment.

Entertainment for the debut weekend is a nod to Scranton’s illustrious vaudeville history. Spooky Burlesque on October 31 celebrates the art of burlesque and cabaret with a performance by New York City’s Red Velvet Burlesque. There are three tiers of tickets including a VIP experience, which features a glass of Prosecco, as well as Premium and General Admission. The Randy Andy’s take the stage on November 1 performing, “iconic hits with vintage lips.” The female trio offers a postmodern Broadway style musical revue. Every weekend following features a new show in the jazz era style or a Northeast PA favorite.

  • November 8, Carl Fisher & The Organic Groove Ensemble
  • November 15, Marko Marcinko Jazz Quintet
  • November 22, Rogue Chimp Eclectic Jazz
  • November 29, A Charlie Brown Christmas
  • December 7, Brunch with Santa
  • December 13, Dustin Douglas & The Electric Gentlemen
  • December 20, The Jeffrey James Band
  • December 31, A Gatsby New Year

Settlers Hospitality will manage operations at Madame Jenny’s, as it has for Ale Mary’s since July. The bar will serve a variety of spirits during the performances, and a light snack menu will also be offered.

“Response to the reopening at Madame Jenny’s has been electric,” explains Settlers Hospitality CEO Justin Genzlinger. “People are eager to have this venue open again in downtown Scranton and we are proud to breathe new life into such a storied place in Lackawanna County.”

Settlers Hospitality, Runaway Train Unveils “Declaration” Lager

A new, Pennsylvania-brewed lager is making its debut in time for Independence Day. “Declaration,” an easy-drinking beer made by Runaway Train Brewery in collaboration with America250PA, offers a crisp, refreshing and accessible way to raise a glass to the spirit of 1776—and the journey ahead to 2026.

The team at Runaway Train Brewery led the creative development of both the beer and its striking label. “A lager made for the people, drinkers will find the label unfolds beautifully, much like the extraordinary story of our nation and Commonwealth, with iconic symbols of America and Pennsylvania proudly displayed on each can”, said Vince Benedetto, President & CEO of Bold Gold Media Group, and a Managing Partner in Runaway Train Brewery. The label features the name ‘Declaration’ boldly displayed in the exact font of our Declaration of Independence, along with silhouettes of famous Founding Fathers, a towering Independence Hall, and Keystone emblems, all supported by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and bordered by a parchment frame listing all sixty-seven Pennsylvania counties.  Select print on the label also duplicates the font of the very first printed text of the Declaration of Independence, as it appeared in the famous ‘Dunlap Broadside’ produced by Patriot & Pennsylvanian, John Dunlap, on the night of July 4th, 1776. The beer is also proudly ‘PA Preferred’ and brewed with premium Pennsylvania ingredients. The notes of the beer have been described as “a delicious taste of Pilsner malt with a finish and mouth feel of Vienna and a touch of Saaz hops. It’s crisp, refreshing, and at 4% ABV, all day drinkable!”

“Runaway Train Brewery and its partners and employees represent a commitment to not only a quality product but also to support Pennsylvania suppliers, small businesses and tell an important story of American History. We’re deeply honored to represent our brand side-by-side with America250PA”, said Justin Genzlinger, CEO of Settlers Hospitality Group and a Managing Partner in Runaway Train Brewery.

A portion of proceeds from “Declaration” will directly support America250PA, the Commonwealth’s official commission coordinating statewide efforts for the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.

“Beer has always brought people together—and in colonial America, it was part of everyday life,” said Cassandra Coleman, Executive Director of America250PA. “When they weren’t declaring independence, our founders were brewing and enjoying beer. In that spirit, we’re proud to partner with Runaway Train on ‘Declaration.’ As we build toward an EPIC calendar of events in 2026, now is the perfect time to introduce our official beer—great for barbecues, concerts, or just toasting 250 years of American history. And like this commemoration, it’s proudly Pennsylvanian and made to be shared.”“Declaration” will be available at Runaway Train Brewery beginning this July, with rollout to select locations across Pennsylvania leading up to 2026. Fans can enjoy an exclusive first tasting at NASCAR Race Weekend at Pocono Raceway, June 20th – 22nd. Availability updates and additional locations will be shared at: America250PA.beer.

Settlers Hospitality Expands to Downtown Scranton

Ale Mary’s Under New Management

A Scranton-based developer and Pocono Mountains hospitality group are joining forces to reinvigorate a landmark in the Electric City. ATR Properties tapped Settlers Hospitality to manage restaurant operations at Ale Mary’s at the historic Bittenbender.

The historic building at 126 Franklin Street has been a part of the cityscape for nearly 150 years. In 2014 ATR Properties owner, Art Russo, revamped the previous restaurant model to open a popular gastropub and sports bar. For over a decade Ale Mary’s has been a go-to downtown destination for drinks, dinner and a distinctive event venue. With this new venture, Settlers Hospitality plans to reimagine the layout of the 150-seat restaurant and craft new menu offerings, but still in keeping with the gastropub concept. A rotating selection of nearly 100 craft and import beers, for which Ale Mary’s is known, will continue.

Guests can expect a variety of appetizer and entrée options that are both craveable and affordable. “Settlers Hospitality shares our commitment to preserving the region’s historical treasures and has a proven track record of community and economic revitalization that makes this partnership virtually seamless,” explains owner Art Russo.

Settlers Hospitality has been a leader in boutique hotel and restaurant management for over 40 years with a collection of concepts in Lehigh Valley, the Pocono Mountains, Catskills and Scranton regions. The company is eager to bring its highly regarded reputation and established brand name to the vibrant customer base in Scranton.

“We are delighted to grow operations in Lackawanna County by expanding our footprint into downtown Scranton,” states CEO Justin Genzlinger. “The business ethos of Ale Mary’s at Bittenbender aligns with our core values to preserve our community’s historic real estate treasures and take responsibility to sustain their survival looking forward. Coupled with our non-negotiable passion to provide quality, unique experiences for every guest, it is a recipe for success.”

The restaurant will remain open throughout the transition, which becomes official on July 1. Plans also include the relaunch of Madam Jenny’s, Ale Mary’s speakeasy style nightclub, in the fall. For more information, visit SettlersHospitality.com.
