Bob Durkin

Bob Durkin is the president and chief executive officer of The Chamber. In this role since 2013, Durkin oversees planning, finances, staffing, and programming of The Chamber and its divisions, Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Building Company (SLIBCO), Lackawanna Industrial Fund Enterprises (LIFE), MetroAction, Leadership Lackawanna, and Skills in Scranton.

Durkin previously served as president of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, a northeastern Pennsylvania-wide non-profit community and patient support, cancer registry, hospital and practice support, and research consortium; prior to that, they served as founding executive director of the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority – a regional community development partnership.

Additionally, Durkin formerly held the position of vice president of The Chamber from 1988–93; where he worked in various capacities in the non-profit and regional government arenas.

Durkin is an active member of the community where he serves on numerous boards: Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, Major-Cities Council, Penn State Scranton Advisory Board, Regional Foundation, LLC, Neighborhood Development Trust, County of Lackawanna Transit System (COLTS), ARC of Northeastern Pennsylvania, and Advocacy Alliance Foundation. He is also a coach for the Lackawanna Challenger Division Sports League.

Durkin is a graduate of Penn State University, where he has also undertaken advanced studies at the Institute for Public Administration. In addition, Durkin has completed studies at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Institute for Organizational Management at the University of Delaware.
