Association of Fundraising Professionals NEPA Chapter invites the community to its National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon, held 11 a.m. Friday, November 18, at The Woodlands Inn, 1073 Highway 315, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18703.

At the annual event, AFP honors individuals and organizations that demonstrate tireless dedication to philanthropy. Award recipients are nominated for outstanding commitment and leadership in all aspects of philanthropy.  This year’s winners are:

Outstanding Fundraising Professional winner and Geisinger Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations Lauren Pluskey McLain, nominated by the AFP NEPA Chapter Board of Directors.

Outstanding Lifetime Achievement winner Maryla Scranton, nominated by Jo Ann Verduce, development director at Saint Joseph’s Center.

Outstanding Philanthropist winner Dr. Charlotte L. Casterline M.D., Nominated by Lindsay Landis, Financial Development at Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA.

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser winners Mark and Diane Michalczyk, nominated by Kurt Bauman, vice president of community and economic development services at NEPA Alliance, and Eileen Brown, lead project manager at Messer.

Outstanding Foundation winner Robert H. Spitz Foundation, nominated by Scranton Area Community Foundation.

Outstanding Corporation winner InterMetro, nominated by King’s College.

The 2022 Philanthropy Day chair is AFP NEPA Chapter Treasurer and JCA of Northeastern PA CEO Gary Bernstein.

“November 18 is a special day set aside to celebrate and recognize the great contributions of philanthropy in our community and to those people active in the philanthropic community who work hard to enrich and strengthen our world,” Bernstein said. “Please join me in congratulating all of this year’s honorees and to celebrate the charitable work that EVERYONE does to make a difference in making our community safer, stronger and healthier.”

This year’s luncheon is sponsored by Geisinger, Berkshire Asset Management, King’s College, M&T Bank, Moses Taylor Foundation, and PNC Bank.
