Civity Workshop: Leadership to Build Social Trust Across Difference
There is much discussion about division in our country – whether it’s harmful polarization, “us vs. them” dynamics across various identities and affiliations, or a growing sense of crisis. This is often paired with a widespread feeling that we may never solve these problems.
Yes, there’s reason to worry, but also reason to hope.
Leadership Lackawanna is proud to announce a new partnership between Civity, the Association of Leadership Programs (ALP), and the National Leadership Network (NLN), which aims to turn hope into reality.
This one-hour and 15-minute virtual workshop will take place on October 29 via Zoom. The fee is $15 for Leadership Lackawanna Alumni and $20 for the general public. After registering, a link will be sent to you.
This workshop is designed:
Sponsoring Organizations:
The Association of Leadership Programs (ALP) is a national network of more than 300 leadership programs that connect professionals dedicated to making a difference in their communities. Collectively, ALP members impact the field by sharing best practices, guiding development, and creating change across the nation. ALP serves as a convenor fostering boldness and innovation, inspiring others. It provides educational activities that engage, educate and train leaders to advance the effectiveness of community leadership programs and professionals.
The National Leadership Network (NLN) is a collaboration that connects the million-plus alumni of community leadership programs. These alumni are local leaders in business, government, and the nonprofit sector who have completed year-long cross-sector leadership training programs that include a strong emphasis on civic engagement. These leaders, already utilizing their impressive skills, have indicated a strong interest in enhancing their ability to foster local trust.
Civity is a national nonprofit organization that envisions a society where everyone belongs, and everyone matters. Civity works with local leaders to increase social trust and build resilient communities. Through training and coaching that provide a combination of first-hand experience and replicable tools and strategies, Civity supports community members in reaching across different social divides on a wide range of issues. The Stanford-based Strengthening Democracy Challenge mega-study recently affirmed the effectiveness of Civity’s approach, ranking Civity Storytelling #1 in increasing social trust and #2 in decreasing social distance.
