Sam Zavada

Sam Zavada is the IGNITE program specialist and grant writer for The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and its business development division, SLIBCO.  

In this role, Zavada assists with the daily operations of the IGNITE Program, offers hands-on support to entrepreneurs, coordinates workshops and events, and helps expand resources available to startups and small businesses. He will also research funding opportunities and prepare grant proposals.

Before joining The Chamber, Zavada built a strong communications foundation through professional experience in journalism, media relations, content development, and community storytelling. Most recently, he served as a reporter for the Times Leader, covering 5–10 stories per week, conducting interviews, producing photography, and building meaningful connections within the community. His previous roles include content marketing, advertising support, copy editing, and media relations work with organizations such as LSEO, the Standard-Speaker, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Zavada received a bachelor’s degree from King’s College.
