This February 2nd, students across Lackawanna County will get a glimpse into their own futures during Groundhog Job Shadow Day! Designed for students in grades 5–8, this exciting event connects classrooms with local businesses to explore real-world careers and industries in our region. Students will depart from their schools at 9:00 a.m. and spend two hours at a local business, observing professionals in action, learning about different roles, and discovering how school subjects connect to the world of work. This immersive experience helps spark curiosity, build awareness, and plant the seeds for future career pathways. For Businesses: Host a Class & Inspire Future Talent Local businesses are invited to host a class of students and introduce them to your company, industry, and workforce. Whether you’re in manufacturing, healthcare, business services, or beyond—your support helps inspire the next generation of professionals. Host Information: Event Date: Friday, February 2, 2026 Snow Date: Tuesday, February 4, 2026 Student Arrival Time: Between 9:15-9:30 a.m. Job Shadow Duration: Two hours Location: Your workplace Group Size: One full class (15–25 students + chaperones) Deadline to Sign Up: November 3, 2025 Skills in Scranton will coordinate all transportation and student pairings—just prepare a brief, engaging agenda to share your work world with students.
