Mohegan Sun Arena General Manager Named Regional Booking Manager for SMG Management

WILKES-BARRE – SMG General Manager of Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, Brian Sipe, was recently named the head of the SMG Northeast Regional booking team by SMG Management, the private management company that oversees the day-to-day operations of the arena. Sipe, who has been the General Manager of the Wilkes-Barre Township venue since October of 2014, will oversee the regional booking calls for the Northeast United States and Canada.

“We are excited to add Brian to our Regional Booking Team,” stated Jim McCue, Senior Vice President of SMG.  “Brian brings a great skill set and record of booking success to our efforts to attract top shows and attractions to our venues in the Northeast,” added McCue.

Brian Sipe, 35, began his career with SMG as Booking and Box Office Manager in 2008 at the Santander Arena in Reading, PA before accepting the position as General Manager of the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, West Virginia in 2010. Sipe, a native of Hershey, PA, came home to Pennsylvania in 2014 when he accepted the role as General Manager of the 10,000 seat multi-purpose arena in Luzerne County.

During his tenure in Wilkes-Barre, Brian has booked some monumental performances for the venue including sold-out performances from Elton John, Blake Shelton, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Kevin Hart, Jeff Dunham, WWE Raw and Thomas Rhett. Brian was also instrumental in working with the PIAA District II committee to bring the High School District Basketball Championships to the venue, which will once again be hosted at the venue this Winter. The venue also hosted three campaign rallies in support of President Trump during Sipe’s tenure which brought global recognition to the Greater Wilkes-Barre area.

Sipe continues to thrive in his role at the venue and has also been an advocate of the region’s economic progress. Sipe was named the 2017 Young Professional of the Year by the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce. Sipe is also a graduate of the Leadership Wilkes-Barre Executive program and serves as a Board member of the NEPA Alliance and Wilkes-Barre YMCA. He also serves as a member of the Mountain Top Rotary.

Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza is owned by the Luzerne County Convention Center Authority, a government body appointed by Luzerne County.
