SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

More details for employees can be found online at the Office of Employment Compensation.

  • If your employer temporarily closes because of COVID-19, you are eligible to file for unemployment compensation (UC). The fastest way to file a claim is online at uc.pa.gov. You will receive a confirmation email containing important details once you submit your claim.
    • If you are currently employed but have been directed by a healthcare provider, medical professional or public official to isolate or quarantine, you may be eligible for UC.
    • If your hours have been reduced because of COVID-19, you may be eligible for UC.
    • If you are a part-time employee who must self-isolate/quarantine or are unable to work because you tested positive for COVID-19, you may be eligible for UC.
  • As of March 16, 2020 all work search requirements pertaining to UC have been waived. The waiting week for UC has also been waived for all claimants.
  • Once your claim has been processed and approved, it should take 2-4 weeks to receive your first payment. You should continue to file your biweekly claim during this time.
  • You should exhaust all paid leave available through your employer before filing a UC claim. If you know you will exhaust your paid leave, you may file a UC claim.
