Space Time Mead & Cider Works is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Label Art Competition for a special 2020 wine named Perseverance. Four finalists have been selected from fourteen submissions.

“It was a difficult and quite enjoyable task to select the finalists given all the wonderful submissions”, says Dan Schreffler, owner.  “The various interpretations of the theme, the hard work, and talent evident in each piece really shows that no matter what goes on around us, art, and humanity prevails.”

Given COVID19 uncertainties, the winner will be selected via online voting, as opposed to the in person reception and voting.  Online voting is is open now until July 27th. Each vote is $5 with proceeds from the contest given to Geisinger Health Foundation’s COVID-19 fund.  The wining artist will receive $250, and runner up $100.

The wine’s name, Perseverance, was inspired by the newly named Mars rover and the world’s collective response to COVID-19 pandemic.  The wine being created for the competition will be 20%+ alcohol by volume. This small batch of wine was started on the day Lackawanna County went under “shelter in place” orders and be ready in early 2021.
