Misericordia University presents “America’s Road: The Journey of Route 66,” an exhibition that offers a historical tour of America’s most iconic highway in the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery. Organized by NRG! Exhibits, the exhibition features photographs, narrative, music, and objects from the Route 66 heyday, showcasing the 2,448-mile thoroughfare’s role in American history. A free opening reception on Saturday, June 16 from 5-7 p.m. will feature live music and light refreshments. Art Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. The Pauly Friedman Gallery is closed on Mondays and for all university holidays (including July 4). Antique Car Cruise – The Pauly Friedman Art Gallery at Misericordia University partners with the Northeast Pennsylvania Region Antique Automobile Club of America to host a Car Cruise on campus in collaboration with the exhibition, “America’s Road: The Journey of Route 66,” on display from June 16-August 12. The car cruise will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a rain date of July 8. Donations received that day will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeastern Pennsylvania. “Kids Theater: Route 66 and Cars III” – Co-programmed with Chick-Fil-A Misericordia, families are invited to visit the “America’s Road: The Journey of Route 66,” exhibit at the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery, where the children will be given an art car kit and a goody bag. They can purchase dinner at Chick-Fil-A in the Banks Student Life Center and go to the Metz Dining Hall to work on their art cars and watch the Disney-Pixar film, “Cars III.” Prizes will be awarded at the end of the evening.
