Greater Scranton is evolving. A vibrant economy, driven by an educated and enterprising work force, is the future of our area. A
technology driven and ambitious community vision has been forged by The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce in concert with local,
state, and federal governments. Local technology based companies are serving as key components to this renaissance, with local
colleges and universities are making a strong investment in human capital, developing a knowledge-based workforce that is shaping and
diversifying our economic future.
Projects facilitated by the Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Building Company (SLIBCO), such as the Jessup Small Business Center and the
Scranton Enterprise Center, serve as key components for growth. Groups such as The Scranton Plan and MetroAction, Inc., leaders of
economic growth for many years, are working together with community leaders to promote entrepreneurism and small business expansion.
Volunteers from all over greater Scranton are serving as mentors for new local businesses and as spokespersons for the future. Our civic
partnerships serve to enhance our superior quality of life. Scranton Tomorrow, the Montage Mountain Development, Skills in Scranton, the
Computer Collaborative, Leadership Lackawanna, and the Steamtown National Historic Site are prime examples of how public and private
partnerships enable valuable civic accomplishments.
Our exceptional citizenry, rooted deep with the spirit of volunteerism, continues to provide leadership for our growth, and inspiration for
investment in our area. Our economy is growing family-sustaining jobs, while our tremendous quality of life is serving our region by
providing a wonderful place to live.
Members of The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce benefit through collaboration. Our 2,200 plus members utilize the fundamental
tools of networking to develop dynamic relationships resulting in business exchanges that benefit our local economy.
Scranton was once again named a "Best Place to Do Business" by Forbes.
We recognize that the strong work ethic of our Scranton area people is our major asset; the combination of an outstanding work ethic and
an excellent training and education infrastructure forms a solid foundation for generations of future citizens in a vibrant community.
