Scranton YP Mission
The Scranton Young Professionals is a diverse group of business leaders, under the age of 40, committed to building relationships and retaining talent among young professionals in the greater Scranton region. Scranton YP seeks to give Scranton’s young professionals a voice in our community, in our businesses — and ultimately — in our future.
Why Get Involved?
Scranton YP will give you access to other young professionals, community leaders and businesses throughout the greater Scranton region. Through a variety of events each year, you’ll grow personally and professionally, making friends along the way.
If you are looking to network and gather business leads, to plug into a community that might be new to you, or to make new friends in a community you’ve lived in your entire life, look no further that Scranton YP.
What is the age limit to participate in Scranton YP?
Scranton YP professionals typically range from 21-40 years old, but participation is not limited to those falling within that age range. Scranton YP welcomes the “young at heart,” as well as all business professionals who are interested in networking with the area’s young people.
Can anyone participate in Scranton YP?
Scranton YP events are open to members of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and their employees. Some events may offer a non-member event rate.
A variety of events will keep it interesting!
Scranton YP will be plan events for professional development, social development and community advancement.
Professional Development: Projected to be held quarterly, professional development events will be held at a variety of venues across the greater Scranton region. Each meeting will focus on different business skills and/or highlight a business or organization that is making an impact on the future of our community and time will be allowed for networking to get to know your fellow YPs.
Social Development: Projected to be held quarterly, Scranton YP will gather at different venues across the greater Scranton region. These after-hour events have no scripted agenda and may include a fun social activity, allowing members to mingle and network casually.
Community Advancement: Members of Scranton YP will meet twice a year with elected officials and community leaders to discuss issues in the greater Scranton region – what’s going right, what’s going wrong, and what we can about it. Through this partnership, Scranton YP will have a voice in the growth and development of the region, and our current leaders will have the opportunity to see the community through YP eyes.
If you’d like to do more than simply attend events, you have the change to get involved through serving on a planning committee:
Professional Development Committee
Responsibilities: Plan and execute a variety of interesting and educational quarterly professional development events.
Social Development Committee
Responsibilities: Plan and execute quarterly “fun” social events.
Community Advancement Committee
Responsibilities: Coordinate two (2) meetings with community leaders and officials to discuss issues in the greater Scranton region.
