Job seekers planning to attend the Chamber’s 2017 Luzerne County Employment Expo will get an extra boost in preparing for the event on Tuesday, April 11, thanks to a workshop sponsored by PA Careerlink Lackawanna County.
The “Preparing for the Employment Expo” workshop will take place on Thursday, April 6, beginning at 11 a.m. at PA Careerlink, 135 Franklin Ave., Scranton. Topics covered will include researching attending employers, how to target specific employers, how to develop an “elevator speech,” interviewing techniques and others.
According to Forbes.com, approximately 80% of available jobs are those that aren’t publicly advertised, making attendance of an event like the Employment Expo crucial for those seeking work. Organizers of the Careerlink workshop urge attendees to come prepared with an updated resume or, if they do not have a resume, with their work history so that staff could help them prepare one prior to the expo.
In addition to the Luzerne County Employment Expo, the Chamber will also host a Lackawanna County Employment Expo at the Marketplace at Steamtown on Wednesday, May 3. Click here for more information.
