The Honorable Julia K. Munley will be a featured speaker at the 2017 Northeast PA Women’s Leadership Conference on Thursday, April 20, at Mohegan Sun Pocono. Her presentation will be “Projecting Sincerity in Communications.”
Judge Munley is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School, Marywood University and the Dickinson School of Law.
Following law school, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Stephen McEwen Jr. of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. She has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
As a practicing trial attorney and partner with Munley Law in Scranton, Judge Munley was certified in civil trial and pretrial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and obtained the highest, preeminent peer review rating with Martindale Hubbell.
In June 2016, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf nominated Judge Munley to a vacancy on the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County. A month later, upon the unanimous recommendation of the Pennsylvania Senate Judiciary Committee, the full Pennsylvania Senate voted unanimously to confirm her nomination.
Judge Munley resides in Clarks Summit with her husband, attorney Patrick Rogan. She is the daughter of Kathleen Munley, Ph.D., professor emerita, Marywood University; and James Munley, senior judge, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
